Obituary of Florence Guerrierie

Florence Marie Guerrierie of Lakewood, New Jersey went to her eternal resting place on Saturday, May 12, 2018. She was 91. Born on July 26, 1926 in New York City to Walter and Paula Vogt, Florence was raised in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx. Her sister, Barbara Smith, preceded her in death in 2013. Upon graduating from Walton High School, Florence became an executive secretary for Hearst Magazines. She met her future husband, Frank P Guerrierie, while at Palisades Amusement Park and they were married for 52 years before his death in 2003. They settled in Brooklyn before moving to Rockaway, New Jersey and raising their family. Motherhood was the most important thing in Florence's life. She raised three sons, Frank W (and Sally) of Forked River, New Jersey, Robert J (and Deborah) of Point Pleasant, New Jersey, and Walter J (and Monica) of Fogelsville, Pennsylvania. Additional survivors include seven grandchildren, Angela Plewa (and Jay), Kathryn Roach (and David), Mary Baszkowski (and Anthony), Anthony Guerrierie (and Virginia), Megan Guerrierie, Dean Guerrierie and Alexander Guerrierie. In addition, three step-grandchildren include Jessica Russo (and Gerardo), Rebecca Kirkland (and Nicolas) and Gerald Whittaker. There are also 14 great grandchildren including Emma and June Plewa, Lily, Isla and Annabel Roach, Robert and Thomas Baszkowski, Isabella, Joseph and Francesca Russo and Zoey, Eli, Molly and Simon Kirkland. Three nieces and three nephews complete her family. Florence moved from Rockaway to Leisure Park in Lakewood in 2012 to be closer to her children. She enjoyed long walks, dancing, music, cooking, reading and especially spending time with her family. Her roles in life included daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend, always enriching the lives of those around her. She leaves behind a legacy that includes a lifetime of wonderful memories for all who knew her. Arrangements are by Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, New Jersey. The viewing will be on Friday, May 18, 2018 from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The funeral service will be on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at 11:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery in Middle Village, Queens, New York at a later date.
