Obituary of Joseph J. Desmond

Joseph J. Desmond, 91 of Newton, formerly of Brick, passed away Tuesday, August 7, 2018. Joseph was a fireman with the New York City Fire Department for 20 years, retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of St. Dominic's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Westwood and Brick, NJ. Joseph was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY and lived in Westwood, NJ, Orange, CA and Brick, NJ before moving to Newton 6 years ago. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marion in 2012, his brother Hubert Desmond of NY, and two sisters, Grace Fletcher of TX and Helen Marucheau of CA. Joseph is survived by six children, Anne Louise Larson (Charles Larson) and fiance Michele D'Amico of West Milford and Toms River, Marion Lopez and husband Steve of Pearl River, NY, Richard Desmond and wife Deborah of Laurel Springs, NJ, Donna Williams and husband Richard of Greendell, NJ, Gerard Desmond and fiancee Jill Silvas and Joseph E. Desmond and wife Antonette of Toms River, NJ: 14 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren. Visitation will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River on Thursday from 7 to 9 pm and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 am at St. Justin's R.C. Church, 975 Fischer Blvd., Toms River, NJ 08753.
