Obituary of George B. Dick

George B. Dick, 97 of Whiting, New Jersey, went home to be with his Lord on August 16, 2018. George was born in Belfast, Ireland in June of 1921 and came to this country at the age of one. His youth was spent in Springfield, Millburn, and Short Hills, NJ. During World War II George served with the Army, stationed primarily in Alaska. In 1945 George married Jean Fortune; later that year Carol was born followed by Bob in 1950. In 1953 the family moved to Westfield where they lived until 1998 when George and Jean moved to Tom's River. George was in sales for 11 years with American Greetings followed by general management of MidAtlantic Correct Craft (boat sales). During his years in Westfield the family enjoyed fellowship at Woodside Chapel in Fanwood; once in Tom's River, George and Jean attended Bethany Bible Chapel. In December of 2013, Jean passed into eternity followed by Carol on July 28, 2018. George is survived by his son, Robert W. Dick and his wife Sheri of Parrish, FL as well as his son-in-law, Russell Hadley of Allegan, MI, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A memorial service for George will be held from noon to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 27,2018, at The Pines, 509 Route 530, Whiting, NJ 08759. In lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory can be made to either Christian Missions in Many Lands (CMML), P.O.Box 13, Spring Lake, NJ 07762 or to Emmaus Bible College, 2570 Asbury Road, Dubuque, IA 52001. Kedz Funeral Home, Tom's River, is handling all arrangements.
