Having just read the tribute from my uncle, Jack Dillon, to his brother Dick, I couldn't agree more with his statement: "You could not find a more noble man." My mother's youngest brother was a wonderful example for me: he always looked for the best in people, never put himself forward, was full of integrity, never complained.
And he was a man of deep faith, who had complete trust in God even to the end, and a love of the sacraments. For example, I remember once in the early 1970s when he surprised me with a visit to London where I was living at the time. (He had flown there on a brief mission from the Azores where he was then stationed.) I took him around all the sights and we ended up at Westminster Cathedral, where he went to Confession. "That is the best thing you did for me today, Barbie," he said. "Thank you!" I am certain that he is praying for all of us now.

We shared a birthday as he reminded me not so long ago when he was visiting my Dad, his brother, Jerry Dillon. I have great memories though too few.

It is with pride I say that I have been privileged to have Dick as a brother. There were four of us, my sister being the eldest. I was two years older than Dick. We shared the same bedroom and many times together. When Dick was at Cal Poly San Louis Obispo he rejoined the Air Force. He then got to do what he loved. Being a Pilot.
I was honored when he asked me to be his Best Man at his wedding. Dick honored me being my Best Man at our wedding in Ireland.
You could not find a more noble man. Although we lived miles apart we got together often. Dick even visited us when we lived in Dallas. At the time he flew the second in command of the Army to Fort Worth. Later he and his son came out here fo California for my daughter's wedding. Later in life I joined him to celebrate both our older siblings.
Dick was a Great Father, Husband and Brother and he will be surely missed. Today I requested a Novena of Masses to be said for him at St. Michael's Abbey near here in Silverado. May God bless his soul.
His Brother,
Jack
