Obituary of Jean Lewandowski

In the early hours of August 5, 2019 Jean Lewandowski, aged 86, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family. Born on July 5, 1933, Jean Siembab was raised in New York City and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Hunter College. Jean taught elementary education in the Lyndhurst, NJ school district where she met the love of her life, Stanley Lewandowski. They married on November 28, 1959. Jean and Stanley moved to Toms River in 1969. After staying home to raise their three children, Jean began a new career at Jersey Shore Savings and Loan rising to AVP of Mortgage Servicing. Jean was an active member of St. Joseph's and St. Justin's Parish for 50 years. After retiring from banking, Jean worked for the Office of Religious Education at St. Joseph's. She was a tireless volunteer sharing her time and talents over the years with St. Justin's Marriage Prep and CCD program, the Interfaith Hospitality Network, and at St. Joseph's she taught CCD, ran the Prayer Shawl Ministry and was an Extraordinary Minister of Communion. Jean was predeceased by her husband Stanley in 1985. She is survived by her sister, Helen Siembab of White Plains, NY, her brother in law, Paul Lewandowski of FL, her three children and eight grandchildren; Julie and her husband Gil Morejon, Gilbert, Jason and Andrea of Toms River, Peter and his wife Anna Lewandowski, Erica, Christina and Michael of Houston, TX, Laura and her husband Robert Anderson, Jessica and Adam of Brick, NJ. She was a loving wife, sister, mother, God Mother and Honorary Grandma Jean to many. She will be greatly missed. Visitation will be at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River on Sunday, August 11 from 1 to 5 pm. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Monday, August 12 at 10:00am. In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the charity of your choice in Jean's name.
