In Loving Memory of Gerard M. Soda (Gerry) 1939-2019 Gerard Michael Soda (Gerry), 80, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on August 23rd, 2019. Born and raised in Montclair New Jersey to Nick and Mary Soda on August 9th, 1939. Gerry graduated from Montclair High School in 1958. After working in his father's business for several years, Gerry went on to open several successful dry cleaning businesses in Montclair and West Orange including: J & E Economy Cleaners, All-Pro Kleaners, and Affordable Cleaners. Gerry and his beloved wife Joyce, who was always by his side, were married 32 years ago (August 16, 1987) and began their blended family. After living in the Montclair area for many years they retired to Toms River in 2009. Gerry is survived by his wife Joyce, loving sisters Joann Petti and husband Dennis, and MaryJane Zimbardi, children: MaryEllen, Theresa, Nicholas, stepdaughter Darlene Murano and husband Frank, grandchildren: Alicia, Frank, Christopher, Michael, two great grandchildren: Anthony and Vincent; along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. Gerry will always be remembered for his dedication to his work and family. In addition, he will be remembered for his many words of wisdom including: "One step at a time" and "Use your judgement" both of which he applied in his life until the end. A wake will be held at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue Toms River, NJ on Wednesday August 28, 2019, 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Funeral Mass will take place at Saint Joseph's Church, 685 Hooper Avenue, Toms River NJ, on Thursday August 29th at 10:00 a.m.
