Am sad to find out that Pastor Joel has left this world but happy to know that he is with the Lord in glory. I had the privilege of being a part of Faith Baptist Church and hearing some great preaching, while helping construct the new church facility with Baptist Missionary Builders 2001-2002. It was a blessing to be a part of the body of Christ there and I have good memories of the ministry of Faith Baptist Church

TRIBUTE TO PASTOR JOEL:
ROMANS 14:8
IF WE LIVE, WE LIVE FOR THE LORD;AND IF WE DIE, WE DIE FOR THE LORD. SO, WHETHER WE LIVE OR DIE, WE BELONG TO THE LORD.
IT'S OFTEN SAID THAT IT'S NOT HOW LONG A MAN LIVED BUT HOW DEEPLY HE LIVED.
WE MET PASTOR JOEL 3YEARS AGO THROUGH THE MEDICAL MISSIONS TO GHANA, WEST AFRICA, AFTER WHICH WE BECAME A FAMILY. THESE PAST YEARS, HE WAS INSTRUMENTAL IN RAISING TUITION FEES ON OUR BEHALF BY GIVING AMIDST HIS DIFFICULTIES, AS WELL AS ENCOURAGED OTHERS AND THE CHURCH TO DO THE SAME.
GOD USED PASTOR JOEL MASSIVELY TO TOUCH NOT JUST OUR LIVES BUT THE MANY LIVES HE WITNESSED TO DURING MEDICAL MISSION 2017 TO GHANA.
WE LOVED HIM DEARLY AS A FATHER BECAUSE THAT'S WHAT HE PROVED TO BE IN OUR LIVES. OUR HOPE WAS TO SEE HIM AGAIN IN GHANA NEXT YEAR GOD WILLING DURING THE GRADUATION CEREMONY FOR WHICH WE TALKED ABOUT UNENDING.
THIS PAST YEAR HAS BEEN DIFFICULT FOR BOTH OF US AS HE BATTLED ILLNESS.
WE PRAYED WITH HIM THROUGHOUT BUT THE LORD WOULD HAVE IT OTHERWISE.
WE ARE SAD HE IS GONE BUT A GREATER JOY FILLS OUR HEART KNOWING THAT HE IS IN HEAVEN WITH OUR FATHER, EXPERIENCING NEITHER PAIN, NOR SUFFERINGS.
PASTOR JOEL, WE WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL FOR KNOWING YOU THOUGH SEEMS BRIEF BUT TO US AN ETERNITY GONE BY.
YES WE HAD PRAYED YOU WOULD STAY A BIT LONGER WITH US BUT GOD LOVES YOU MORE AND SO HE HAS TAKEN YOU TO BE WITH HIM. WE TAKE SOLACE IN THE FACT THAT WE WILL DEFINITELY MEET AGAIN SOON.
WE WILL FOREVER BE GRATEFUL FOR THE SEED OF GENEROSITY YOU PLANTED IN OUR LIVES AND WE PROMISE TO WATER AND CARE FOR IT TO BARE MUCH FRUIT TO SUPPORT OTHERS AND THE WORK OF GOD.
TILL WE MEET AGAIN, REST IN PEACE PASTOR JOEL.
WITH LOVE,
FROM GIDEON AND SALSA DAPAAH
SOLID ROCK BAPTIST MISSION,
GHANA- WEST AFRICA.

condlences to the Spiecker family. Remember going to church as a child. Past or Joel was always friendly and happy that he baptized me. Moved to NC after my own mother passed in 94. Still living in NC. Never found a church close to what that little church had. Of course the Baptist churches in nc are huge. Memories of Awana, Sunday school with Ms. Sandy and fellowship will remain.

What a gentleman. Daniel enjoyed their conversations. We all enjoyed his jam. Pastor Joel never forgot a name. Our hearts are broken for the family.

Hi Sandy,
I'm recalling the early '80s visiting your flat in Patterson for Sunday church...sometimes with my brothers. I think Joel was working print shop...not long after you guys left Hickory. On Sunday a kid (i think his name was Harry & a nephew? of yours¿) took us to get pizza and in route introduced us to the music of John Michael Talbot and Michael Card.
What a recollection ¡!¡!
Joel was a good and patient man.

I’m going to miss walking into the Spiecker home saying, “Dad, it’s your second son!”
I will always remember his warm, fatherly spirit.
