Obituary of Joseph A. Zenna
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joseph A. Zenna, 65, of Lanoka Harbor passed away, after a long fight with Covid-19 on Wednesday, February 10, 2021. Joseph was born and raised in Newark, NJ and graduated from Barringer High School. He was a proud Veteran who served in the United States Navy. After a career in law enforcement Joseph moved on to work as an IT Technician before retiring. He was known as the entertainer, good time Joe Zenna; for his infamous storytelling and ability to light up a room. Joseph loved like no other, everyone was family to him, and you knew that from one conversation. He had a heart of gold, was a good listener and gained many friendships over the years because of that. More than anything he loved being a grandfather, you could find him feeding Giada biscotti and coffee, singing and dancing to make her smile. He will be missed dearly by his loving family.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 40 years, Rita Zenna; daughter, Sarah Castillo and her husband Jose Castillo; granddaughter, Giada Castillo; Bill Melvin who was considered a brother to Joseph, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
“Here’s to us and men who are like us, damn few of us left.”
Cremation will remain private.
