I remember his kindness when my mother Carmen Maggio who lived across the street had passed away 7 years ago and he came over with Maria with coffee and donuts for the family and said "stay strong". Those simple words really helped in the moment. My deepest condolences to the whole famiy. I'm sure that he would want you all to " stay strong" May he rest in peace. Linda Mallon (daughter of Anthony Maggio)

Mr zech was an amazing guy helped me throughout my high school career and solely one of the only people in school to help push me along and graduate. Without his guidance I don’t think I would’ve made it through high school. I appreciate everything he has done and all the hearts he has touch throughout his career. Hopefully his family can find peace through this time and know they aren’t alone and that hundreds of students shared the same feeling for such a wonderful person

I use to go to Mr. Zech office everyday after school, and he would always tell me to hold my head up high, and with a big smile, and a stern nod, he would hand me some chocolates or any snack he had near him. Mr. Zech, you have fundamentally changed my path in life. Thank you. I’m in tears writing this, but I miss you, and I want you to know, that you truly impacted me more than I could imagine. You were so happy the day that you retired, you were basically counting down practically two years before. I know, that was because you knew that it was time. Time for you to find another amazing purpose. I hope and pray that you were able to find true happiness, and the fulfillment that you truly deserved. Rest In Peace Mr. Zech. You will forever have a place in my life.

My mame si Kevin Zelman class of 2016 Rahway high school. Mr. Zech was the reason I was able to come out of my shell and readjust in a new world when I transferred to Rahway. I was in his office at least 5 times a week my junior year just to talk to him. He made sure I was doing okay and made sure to extend a helping hand whenever he realized I wasn’t. This man helped me aspire to chase my dreams and go to college in the big city and I wouldn’t be where I am today without his guidance during high school. Truly a remarkable and loving man, who will be cherished in my memories forever. My prayers and condolences to each and every one who has had their hearts touched by Mr. Zech’s kindness.

Both of my children had the pleasure of Mr. Zech their Counselor. He was great with them and very patient with me. I could be a very challenging parent. There wasn't a time that he didn't greet me with a smile. He will be missed by all who loved him. Fly High Mr. Zech. Your wings will protect so many.

To the Zech family,
Many of the memories I have of growing up involved your family. Tom, you were like a brother to me, so being with your family was always a place I found comforting. Robyn, I can hardly remember a time when you weren't part of the Zech family. I am glad that you have each other, along with your sons, Ryan and Tyler, for love and support now, and always. Mr. Zech (sorry, but you'll always be "Mr. Zech" in my mind and memory), I can't express how sorry I am for the loss of your son. I hope that the love and support of your family will give you solace. Kathy, I am sorry for you as well and know Bobby's presence will be greatly missed in your life. Jamie and Jennifer, my memories of you were as children, so I was shocked to learn that you have grown children of your own. May they bring you comfort now. My memories of Bobby are those of a smiling young man who was both kind and funny. I remember pranks and jokes he loved that also involved Tommy. Hearing that Bobby was a teacher who loved his students is not surprising and a very admirable quality. My heartfelt condolences go out to all of his family and those who loved him.
Having reached out to my brother, John ( who is in China), he was very shocked and saddened by the news of Bobby's passing. He truly loves your family. He often told me that the Zech home was like a second home and family to him growing up. I know he plans to try to reach out to you to offer his condolences ...
Sending all of you love and prayers,
Lisa Boyle-Kearns

I recall our days as co-teachers and friends. We shared many fun, sometimes silly, times together in room 305. Bob was afraid to close the windows for fear my hot flashes would provoke an attack on him. I enjoyed every one of our conversations about spirituality, traveling, and food. May all who loved him be comforted by their own cherished memories. Rest peacefully, Bob. ❤️

I didn't know Mr. Zech personally but he was my daughters guidance counselor during one of the most difficult transitions for her both personally and through a pandemic. He was kind, thoughtful, understanding. He was firm, honest and a personally quietly demanded respect just with his personality. I was sad to hear he was retiring but excited at the thought of him getting to enjoy his time. reading that he passed away from a school email today just hit different. I don't know if it was because that is not what retiring is supposed to be about; or, because he was someone I wanted Jules to show how great an adult she turned out to be because of the time and effort he took wit her.. I just don't know. I know alot of school staff but Mr. Zech wasn't one of them and still, the message of his passing really left me with a broken heart. Know that your son, father, grandfather touched so many lives. More than he probably even knew. I am thankful to have had him touch ours even for a moment and I am saddened for your loss.

My condolences goes out to all his family! I am in disbelief of this news. Mr Zech was the most caring counselor I have ever met. Talking about going above and beyond for all his students especially me. I have no words to explain how much of a great positive impact he had in my life til this day. Anytime I needed help he was there for me in every way possible. He swore he was so Spanish every-time I walked into his office he would be listening to Spanish music while attempting to sing. I didn’t have a normal childhood, the prosper guidance that I needed but Mr Zech helped me even after high school. I use to call him “Viejo” meaning I always felt that connection as if he was my grandfather. He always spoke about his kids and grandkids.Because of him I am half of the women I am today.❤️
