Obituary of Raymond Carl Snyder

Please share a memory of Raymond to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Raymond C. Snyder, 89, passed away unexpectedly in his home in Auburndale FLA, on March 18, 2023, due to complications of a fall sustained in 2022. He courageously battled his injuries with the support of children, and family, and never lost his determination. He was born in Rockaway, New Jersey, and was the devoted son of the late Michael and Francis Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his beloved wife of 62 years, Ruby Elizabeth (Galup) Snyder, and brothers Michael, Daniel, John, George, Robert, and sisters, Connie and Helen. Raymond was one of many children and his surviving siblings are Larry Snyder of Parsippany, NJ, and Betty Greeley of Andover, NJ. In addition to his siblings, Raymond (Ray) has 3 children: daughter, Ruby Jean Hess of Charlotte, NC, Michael Snyder III, of Whiting, NJ, and daughter, Donna Arnstein of Huntingtown, MD. Raymond was very proud of his 6 grandchildren, Raymond P. Snyder, Tyler Arnstein, Lindsey Arnstein, Camryn Arnstein, Bryce Arnstein, and Preston Arnstein, and felt this was his greatest legacy. After high school, Raymond joined the US Navy and proudly served his country for a number of years completing several world tours on naval destroyers and aircraft carriers. He was recognized as one of the youngest Chief Petty Officers at the time and continued his lifelong career in Boilers and Machinery. He also proudly served as a representative on the National Board of Boiler Examiners. Raymond always worked hard, was a joy to all, charismatic, and full of laughter. He loved to travel with his wife Ruby and spend time with family, especially his grandchildren. He will be forever loved, and inspired all to achieve a good education and to “Be all You can be”. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 31, 2023, 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ. A funeral Service with Military Honors will take place at St. Joseph's Cemetery, 62 Cedar Grove Road, Toms River. Entombment to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV.org or PO Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH 45250).
