Obituary of Joyce A. Mazur

Please share a memory of Joyce to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Joyce Ann Mazur, 78, of Toms River passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 29, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born and raised in Wilkes Barre, PA. After graduating from Elmers L. Myers Junior/Senior High School in 1963, she came to Ocean Grove for the summer but never left New Jersey. After marrying the love of her life, Edward in 1965 they began their new life together in Asbury Park. In 1973, Joyce, Edward and their growing family moved to Brick. Joyce moved to Toms River in 2009. Joyce was a member of St. Paul’s Methodist Church, in Brick, NJ. Joyce was a homemaker before returning to full time work when the girls were old enough to be in school. She worked for the United Methodist Homes of New Jersey for over 15 years. Upon retiring her and Edward traveled around the United States, and discovered the Cruising Lifestyle. After losing her true love, Edward in 2007, Joyce once again found happiness with Oliver, her beloved Bichon-Cavalier Spaniel. Oliver spent many days lying in Joyce’s lap as the two would watch tv and nap. Joyce went back to part time work as a weekend receptionist at Laurelton Village Nursing Facility for over 10 years. While there she made countless connections with both the residents and their family members. Upon moving to Silver Ridge Park West Adult Community in Toms River, Joyce became active in several neighborhood groups, where she had made lasting friendships. Prior to COVID Joyce could be found swimming at the local pool with her “pool friends”. Mondays were spent playing cards with the “Ladies”. Joyce also found plenty of time to spend with her granddaughters Allison and Emily, often meeting them for lunch when she was not at one of their events. Joyce is predeceased by her adoring husband, Edward, beloved dog Oliver, parents Ruth, and Harold, mother-in-law, Sophie, as well as her sister-in-law Helena and her husband Jack, sister in law Mary, and her husband Bob, brother in law John and his wife Norma, brother-in-law Stanley, and brother-in-law Fred. She is survived by her daughters, Elizabeth Piccola and her husband Rich; Joyce Storch and her husband Eric; Lynn Mazur and her long-term partner Ted; sister, Sarah “Sallie” Wolcott; niece Jennifer Wolcott Fredricks; sister-in-law, Theresa Kelsey and her husband James; sister-in-law Kathleen Wisniewski, her grandchildren, Amber, Ashley, Austin, Allison, and Emily; great-grandchildren, Diana, Dominic, Delilah, and Lilith as well as her many extended family members and friends. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 5 – 8 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Avenue, Toms River. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at 11:00 am at St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church, 1528 Church Road, Toms River. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Oceans of Love, 1709 Hwy 37 E. Toms River, NJ 08753 or Interfaith Hospitality of Ocean County, 407 Lexington Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.
