Obituary of George G. Tamasy

George Tamasy, Sr., 87 of Toms River, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at his home. Born in Highland Park, NJ, he was the son of the late Gabriel and Irene Tamasy. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two sisters, Eleanor Borowski and Ruth Tauscher. He lived in Milltown, NJ before moving to Toms River in 1969. George was a proud Korean War veteran of the US Army and was an active member of the American Legion Post #351. He was also a member of the Milltown Fire Department for 10 years serving as foreman and remained a member of the Milltown Exempt Fireman's Association. George was employed by PSE&G in New Brunswick for 38 years, retiring as a supervisor. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and served as president of The Strip Surf Fishing Club. He also played professional baseball. George was a loving husband to Marilyn who predeceased him in 2011 after 59 years of marriage. Surviving are his son George Tamasy, Jr., and his wife Gail of South Seaside Park; two daughters, Lynda McLain and her husband Sam of South Seaside Park and Pamela Ritchey and her husband Doug of Toms River; four grandchildren, James Tamasy, Ian, Paige and Shane Ritchey and several nieces and nephews. A devoted, loving father, grandfather and friend, He will be dearly and truly missed. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 from 4 to 7 pm at Kedz Funeral Home, 1123 Hooper Ave., Toms River. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at 11:00 am, followed by a burial with Military Honors at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.
